I love taking care of children because they are genuine and loving, honest and fun. I take my time with each child, helping them learn that going to the dentist isn’t scary or hard, and teaching them about their oral health and how to take care of it. It’s exciting to watch our patients grow up, see their personalities develop and emerge, and then, as young adults, have to say goodbye to them as they transfer to an adult dentist. To be honest, that’s hard on both of us, because I tend to form strong attachments to my patients, who become like members of my family.
I graduated at the top of my class in dental school from the Health Sciences University in my native Colombia. That was followed by a pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Illinois, Chicago College of Dentistry; then a Master of Science from the same university. I’m board certified in pediatric dentistry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
I feel it is essential I stay up to date with new technologies, concepts, and techniques related to pediatric dentistry, so I participate in continuing education courses throughout the year. This ensures I am able to provide my patients with the most effective, proven, gentle care available.
When I’m not working or studying, I’m spending time with my family, including my husband, two daughters, and son. I’m passionate about women’s education and empowering women, and am equally as passionate about travel and exploring the world, learning new things, and meeting new people.
